INTRODUCTION
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 has been set up by the Ministry of Education [erstwhile Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD)] to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 138 institutes for the academic year 2026-27. This includes 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 56 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform.
JoSAA 2026 counselling registration will begin on June 2, 2026, following the JEE Advanced 2026 results.
Key Dates and Process
- JEE Advanced 2026 Result: Expected on June 1, 2026 jeecounselling.in+1.
- JoSAA 2026 Registration Start: June 2, 2026 Careers360+2. Candidates must register on the official website, josaa.nic.in, using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced credentials.
- Counselling Rounds: JoSAA 2026 will conduct six rounds of seat allotment. After each round, candidates can choose to Freeze (accept and retain the seat), Float (accept and try for a better option), or Surrender (withdraw) the seat jeecounselling.in+1.
- Document Verification and Fee Payment: Candidates must complete online document verification and pay the seat acceptance fee to confirm their allotted seat manabadi.co.in+1.
- Special Rounds: After the regular rounds, CSAB special rounds may be conducted for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs to fill vacant seats. IITs do not participate in CSAB rounds jeecounselling.in+1.
Suggested List of Documents to be uploaded by Candidates for
Registration/Online Reporting (for Admission to NIT+ System)
- Class X Mark Sheet/Certificate or Aadhaar Card or Birth Certificate (for Date
of Birth) - Class XII Mark Sheet and Certificate (Qualifying Examination)
- Admit card of JEE (Main) 2026
- Certificate of category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS), if applicable, as per
Government of India format, available on the JoSAA 2026 website, issued by
the competent authority.
In case of OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS category, the certificate must be
either
a) issued on or after April 01, 2026,
OR
b) a Government issued, online verifiable certificate which must be
valid till August 31, 2026 or the day of physical reporting at the
admitting institute, whichever is later.
Please note that
(i) Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) issued by Maharashtra State must be
validated by Social Welfare department (in case of SC and OBC-NCL
category) and Tribal Welfare department (in case of ST category) of
Maharashtra Government. The SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates of
Maharashtra State have to produce their caste validity certificate in the
format available on JoSAA 2026 website.
(ii)
ST certificates from Tamil Nadu state must be issued by the concerned
Revenue Divisional Officer. - Original Certificate for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD), if applicable,
issued by the competent authority. Refer JoSAA 2026 website for format. - Original Certificate for persons having less than 40% disability and having
difficulty in writing, if applicable [in the format provided in the Information
Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026, issued by the competent authorities listed in the
Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026. - Crossed Bank Cheque copy / Image of Passbook with bank account details
- Medical Certificate (in specified Format available on JoSAA 2026 format,
Annexure 7) - OCI certificate/ PIO card, if applicable
- Passport/Citizenship certificate, if applicable
In addition to the above documents, the verifying officials will also check the
special eligibility conditions, if any, for all the choices including and above the
seat allotted to the candidate.
Note: If the original certificates are not in English/Hindi, English/Hindi
version/translation of such certificates, duly certified by the
Principal/Director or other competent authority of the graduating
Institute, will be required during the verification of documents.
